HomeSweep ("we," "our," or "us") operates the HomeSweep mobile application (the "App"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our App. Please read this policy carefully. By using HomeSweep, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.
1. Information We Collect
1.1 Information You Provide
- Account information: When you create an account, we collect your name, email address, and password.
- Subscription information: If you subscribe to HomeSweep Premium, we collect payment details through our third-party payment processors (Apple App Store and Google Play Store). We do not store your credit card number directly.
- Support requests: If you contact us for support, we collect the information you provide in your message.
1.2 Information Collected Automatically
- Scan data: When you scan a product barcode or ingredient label, we collect the product identifier, scan timestamp, and the resulting Biohacker Score. Photographs taken for label scanning (OCR) are processed in real-time and are not stored on our servers.
- Room audit data: Products you organize into rooms and your Home Score history.
- Device information: Device type, operating system version, unique device identifiers, and mobile network information.
- Usage data: Features used, scan frequency, pages viewed, and interaction patterns within the App.
1.3 Camera and Photo Access
HomeSweep requires camera access to scan barcodes and ingredient labels. We only access your camera when you actively initiate a scan. We do not access your photo library unless you explicitly choose to upload an image of an ingredient label. Images used for OCR label scanning are processed in real-time and are not retained after analysis is complete.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide, maintain, and improve the App and its features
- Generate Biohacker Scores, ingredient breakdowns, and swap recommendations for scanned products
- Track your Home Score over time and provide room-by-room audit results
- Send you product recall alerts and smart notifications about products you have scanned (if enabled)
- Process your subscription and manage your account
- Respond to your support requests and inquiries
- Analyze usage trends to improve our scoring algorithms and product database
- Send you promotional communications (only with your consent, and you can opt out at any time)
3. Data Sharing and Disclosure
We do not sell your personal information. We may share your information in the following circumstances:
- Service providers: We share data with third-party service providers who help us operate the App, including cloud hosting, analytics, and payment processing. These providers are contractually obligated to protect your data.
- Aggregated data: We may share anonymized, aggregated data (such as overall product scoring trends) with research partners and the public. This data cannot be used to identify you.
- Legal requirements: We may disclose your information if required to do so by law or in response to valid requests by public authorities.
- Business transfers: If HomeSweep is involved in a merger, acquisition, or asset sale, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction.
4. Data Retention
We retain your account information and scan history for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will delete your personal data within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it for legal or regulatory purposes. Anonymized, aggregated data may be retained indefinitely for research and product improvement.

We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your information, including encryption in transit (TLS 1.3) and at rest (AES-256). However, no method of transmission over the Internet or electronic storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to:

- Request correction of inaccurate data
- Request deletion of your data
- Object to or restrict processing of your data

7. Push Notifications
With your permission, we may send push notifications for product recall alerts, new research findings about products you've scanned, and Home Score milestones. You can disable push notifications at any time through your device settings or the App's notification preferences.

HomeSweep is not intended for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have collected information from a child under 13, please contact us immediately and we will take steps to delete that information.
9. International Data Transfers
Your information may be transferred to and processed in countries other than your country of residence. These countries may have data protection laws that differ from those in your jurisdiction. We ensure appropriate safeguards are in place for any international data transfers, including Standard Contractual Clauses where applicable.
10. Third-Party Links
The App may contain links to third-party websites or services, including product retailers for swap recommendations. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of these third parties. We encourage you to review their privacy policies before providing any personal information.
